A country classic from 1958, with Hank Thompson telling tales of cocaine (‘Cocaine Blues’) and recalling muses on the "tarnished heroes ... rounders, bounders, fourflushers and bums ... rolling stones who go through life itching for trouble and finding it." For those not in the know, a fourflusher is “a person who makes false or pretentious claims; bluffer.” With Hank Williams’ outspoken ‘I’ll Be A Bachelor Till I Die’ and the hoary ‘Left My Gal In The Mountains’, it’s a classic set of stories including the down and out ‘Dry Bread’ and the no-hoper album closer ‘May I Sleep In Your Barn Tonight Mister?’ Happy times.
