You can draw a direct line through to The Byrds who covered ‘Christian Life’ on ‘Sweetheart Of The Rodeo’ when Gram Parsons briefly hooked up with bluegrass pioneer Chris Hillman prior to their formation of The Flying Burrito Brothers. Sure, some of this album is gorgeously dated but the performance, the harmonies and their sincerity is spine tingling.
